How do you know if you have bed bugs
There are a few definitive signs that you can look for to determine if they are present in your home. Look for small, brown stains on  your pillowcases, bedding and mattresses. There can also be dark spots, as well as live bugs, along mattress seams, behind baseboards, underneath carpets and in the frames of beds or headboards to name a few areas. Their eggs will also be present. They are white, about 1mm in size, and can be found in dark crevices near feeding areas; namely mattresses and couches.
how do bed bugs get into your home
Simply put, they are natures best hitchhikers. They don’t really latch on to people, just their personal belongings. The most popular places where one might accidentally pick one up would be; libraries, hotels, the office, hospitals, second hand clothing and furniture, and other infested homes.
Where do bed bugs live in your home
They prefer to be about 3 to 6 feet away from their feeding area, but they are certainly not limited to this area. Some of their most popular places to hide are in mattresses and boxsprings, coaches and chairs, frames of beds and headboards, behind baseboards and picture frames, under carpet edges, in loose wallpaper, and in drawer joints.
What do Bed Bugs Look Like
Their bodies are oval shaped, thin as a credit card, and have short golden body hair. Additionally, they have six legs, two antennae and cannot fly.

Best Treatment for Bed Bug Infestations

There are several different methods available on the market for bed bug extermination.  As professional bed bug specialists, we believe you need to understand the difference between them.  We would like to give you our insight into the different ones.

There is a growing number of services offering canine detection for bed bugs. This may be something that you have considered.  In all honesty, we can determine if you have bed bugs without the aid of canines.  Bed Bugs leave visible clues, and you may have already researched this as well.  As professionals, we know what to look for, where to look, and understand the tell-tale clues left behind.  Paying for the additional services of canines seems pointless, in our opinion.  Not only will you be paying for this, but you are still left with the cost of a professional extermination service. Or you will be left trying to treat them yourself.

Trying to treat bed bugs yourself may appear like an affordable option.  In all the cases that we have been exposed to, a high number of clients have tried this route.  Only to have to bring in our professional exterminators when the bed bugs re-appear.  There is usually an explanation for why they re-appear.  It's in the method of treatment.

You will have a couple of options available to you - powder treatments and heat treatments.  In our experience, individuals trying to resolve bed bug infestations on their own go with powder treatments.  And in this lies the problem.  Powder treatments are effective when it is done correctly.  The powder, which contains diatomaceous earth, will breakdown the exoskeletons of bed bugs - when bed bugs encounter it.  It needs to be placed in areas where bed bugs are present and will have contact with it.  You will need to cover all cracks and nooks, etc. or you may miss them.  And it will not have any effect on eggs, which are found hidden away in mattresses and bed frames.  If you leave bed bugs behind, you are going to need to retreat eventually.

Heat Treatments for exterminating bed bugs have been scientifically proven to be very effective.  Much research has gone into this, and the data collected indicates that specific temperature of exposure and duration of exposure has an immense effect on the success of killing not only adult bed bugs, but also eggs.  However, heat treatments are not necessarily something you want to try on your own.  This is much more than cranking up your furnace and roasting the little pests.  There is a specific temperature range that needs to be reached and maintained.  And you will not get that without industrial equipment and know-how.  This is where our professional bed bug exterminators come in.

To successfully kill your bed bugs, our company combines both powder and heat treatments for a complete knock-out punch. If we were not completely convinced of our services, we would not be offering a 1-year guarantee on our service.  You will need some guidance on what to do in preparation for treatment.  And we will be right there, providing you with just that.  We want to protect your property and items, so we will give you a clear understanding of what needs to be completed prior to our arrival on treatment day.  And once your place is bed-bug free, we will offer you some helpful information about maintaining that and keeping these unwanted pests out.
